Former champion Jorge Linares (31-2, 20KOs) has found himself in line for two possible championship opportunities. Linares last fought in October for the vacant WBC title. He was well ahead on the official cards, 98-92, 99-91 and 98-92, but his opponent Antonio DeMarco (26-2, 19KOs) rallied in the eleventh round to get a stoppage victory.  In December, the WBC issues an order which allows DeMarco to make an optional defense, but then he must grant Linares a rematch.

On the other front, there is talk of an April bout for the vacant WBA "regular" lightweight title between Linares and Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs).

Why WIN? Just suffer a KO loss and you'll be in line for a title shot. Don't want to point fingers, but Roach's fighters have been getting a lot of "lucky breaks" lately.
Linares is STILL the truth. He was whooping DeMarco when he got KO'd. It was a great comeback KO win by Antonio, but I would bet my life on Jorge in the rematch. I still think Jorge goes on to be a 3-4 division champion and possibly an ATG. I am not hopping off the Linares b...
I always cringe hearing a guy is in line for a title shot when he's lost his last fight. Just doesn't seem right.
I mean I would be ok with him rematching Demarco again but no he doesn't deserve a title shot in any shape or form.

I think Linares' fighters mentality comes out when he gets hit. He just needs to box more and brawl less.
