WBC President Jose Sulaiman has made a ruling that if Nonito Donaire doesn't defend his title in the immediate future, and the bantamweight title becomes vacant, the WBC would be willing to sanction a fight between Jorge "Travieso" Arce and Christian Esquivel for the vacant title.

Arce is the current WBO champion at super bantamweight and the rumors of a possible drop in weight have already reached the organization's President, Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel.

During a recent statement to the press, Paco mentioned the rumors regarding Arce with the following statement - "Jorge Arce is our champion at 122 pounds and the only Mexican to become champion in four different divisions. If (Arce) decided to fight at 118 pounds for a title of another organization, then we would consider making a fight for the interim title with the two highest rated available contenders at 122 pounds."
