Jonathan Oquendo Wants a Shot at Jorge Arce's Title

By Rey Colon

Jonathan Oquendo will face a new opponet, Mexico's Jesus Martinez, on Friday in the at the coliseum Antonio R. Barceló in Toa Baja. The boxer has been indicating that he is ready for this new challenge and hopes that he will come out of this fight without any problems and then he wants to focus his efforts on getting the coveted title shot at 122 pounds against WBO super bantamweight king Jorge 'Travieso' Arce.

"We are ready for anyone. If we are ready for the world title, we are for this kind of opponent. I will not skimp or disparage any boxer. Those are the mistakes that are made often. Everyone has two hands and you have to make a good fight. I want to fight for the world title. I would love to fight Arce," Oquendo said.

Oquendo is coached by Dennis Pantojas and belongs to the block headed by former WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez.

Oquendo need to fight V-Dub2 and see who gets the title shot.I find it funny how dudes can just raise their hand up and say "OK I'm ready for my title shot"and think they can get it just because.you need…

I'm sure Arce will fight him in MX...O's tall...a bit wide w/his punches @ times.... throws his upper from too far away....good fight for Arce befire rematch w/WV2 by next April/May as WV2 needs two fights before he wants Arce…
