Former junior middleweight champion Sergei Dzinziruk (37-1, 23 KO's) of Ukraine is the opponent being considered for undefeated Puerto Rican puncher Jonathan Gonzalez (15-0, 13 KO's) on a card being put together for August 25th in the United States. There is also discussion about Cuban coach Pedro Luis Diaz take over Gonzalez, who is co-promoted by Universal Promotions. Gonzalez is ranked seventh in the WBA and WBO.
"He can win. It's a tough fight but he can win and we would like to him to train outside [of Puerto Rico]. We'd like to have Pedro Luis Diaz train him," said Javier Bustillo, president of Universal, referring to the current coach of triple champion Miguel Cotto.
Dzinziruk's only loss came 15 months ago when he was stopped in eight rounds by Argentine boxer Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez.
