Johnson-Gunn: Webster vs. Duran Showdown in Play

By Tim Kudgis

Sources are telling me undefeated prospect Derrick Webster (14-0) will be taking on former title challenger Ossie Duran (28-11-2) on December 18th.  Webster-Duran will be the chief supporting bout for Bobby Gunn vs. Glen Johnson from the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA and LIVE around the WORLD on GFL.tv!

Webster, who is undefeated in 14 fights, is coming off his toughest test to date.  On January 19th of this year, he was victorious against Darnell Boone in a very close 6 round split decision.  Boone, a very tough journeyman, is best known for being the only man to drop Super Middleweight kingpin Andre Ward as well as defeating Light heavyweight Champion Adonis Stevenson.

Ossie Duran, has faced a who's who of top names in the boxing world, is coming off of loss to Top Rank's top Middleweight prospect Matt Korobov (19-0).  In 2011, Duran also dropped a very controversial MD to Avantdi Khurtsidze (26-2-2) for the WBC silver Middleweight title, a fight in which many in the boxing community believed Duran should have had his hand raised.

This is a true crossroads fight.  Webster can position himself as a top dog in the middleweight division victory and open a lot of doors for the start of 2014.  When Duran enters the ring on 12/18, he is basically entering "Last Chance Saloon".  A win here could put him right in the title hunt while a lose would cause him to going back top the drawing board.  Being as it very late in the career of Duran, starting from the drawing board is not an option.

Both men will be putting in all on the line on Dec 18th from the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA and broadcasting around the WORLD LIVE on GFL.tv.!
