Johnny Tapia Facing Possible DUI Charge After Crash

Police said five-time boxing champion Johnny Tapia may have been driving under the influence when he crashed his car in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albuquerque police said the 44-year-old slammed his black SUV into a curb near a golf course Thursday afternoon but was not injured.

Police said Tapia failed a field sobriety test. However, a breath sample showed that Tapia did not have alcohol in his body. Police took a blood sample to determine if Tapia, who was not arrested, was on a depressant. He could face DUI charges if results come back positive.

In June, Tapia defeated Mauricio Pastrana in an eight-round decision. He then announced that it was his last fight.

Me and Johnny have the same lawyer, so at least I know he is in good hands. Good luck Johnny.
