John Murray: I Dare Mitchell To Attempt a Knockout Win

John Murray says that Kevin Mitchell doesn't have the firepower to stop him in their big Battle of Britain clash.

The pair collide at the Excel London on Saturday 9th July, live on Sky Sports 1HD.

The Manchester ace heard that Mitchell expects their fight to be a copy of the epic 1985 three-round war between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns.

Murray, the former British and European Lightweight Champion, believes that the Dagenham scrapper doesn't have the punch to be able to stand and trade like Hearns did against Hagler, and will come off second best if he tried it against him.

"Mitchell is welcome to try and blast me out, but believe me he will get knocked out even quicker if he tries that,"

"He doesn't carry enough power in his punches to halt me when I'm coming forward and remember I'll be throwing at least four or five punches in return for every one of his."

"His chin definitely won't be able to stand up to what I'm going to be landing on it throughout the fight. I'll give it to him that he's fast with his hands and on his feet, but his punch is nothing to worry about and I'll be grinding him down round after round with combination punching until I get to him, and I will get him."

"I'll be working my key assets which are the body shots and bringing his hands down so I'll work on his head.

"It will be a tough, hard and exciting fight, and I'm looking forward to finally seeing what Mitchell has to offer. The fight has been a long time coming and I've been building myself up for the day I met Mitchell.

"Personally I think he is trying a bit of mind games saying that he is going to have a war with me, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to box me like he against Breidis Prescott, but I've worked on plenty of game plans with my trainer Joe Gallagher for whatever Mitchell brings on the night."

Tickets for North 'n South are available now, priced at 40, 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200, from 0844 844 0444 or ticketmaster.co.uk Tags: John Murray , Kevin Mitchell , Murray vs Mitchell , Murray-Mitchell

Mitchell will employ the same tactics as the prescott fight. No way he stands there and trades with Murray, if he does Murray will eat him alive!
