BoxingScene.com has been informed by a source in the IBF that a proposed fight between Joan Guzman (29-0, 17KOs) and Yuri Romanov (21-2, 14KOs) has been approved for the vacant lightweight title. Guzman and Romanov are the two highest-ranked "available" contenders to fight for the title. Guzman is ranked at number 7 and Romanov is sitting a number 9.

There is no date for the fight. The two sides have to begin negotiations to complete a deal and set a date. The title became vacant last Friday when Nate Campbell was unable to make weight for his fight with mandatory Ali Funeka.

another boring fight if the ballerina sticks to his old form: running and hugging. joan guzman will showcase once again his hugging and running prowess. the fans will be mesmerized once again by his houdini-style escape from the hands of his opponent.
