According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, junior welterweight contender Joan Guzman has tested positive for Furosemide, a diuretic banned in Nevada.

According to the article the Dominican tested positive after his fight versus Jason Davis on the Amir Khan-Marcos Maidana undercard this past December. Both Guzman and Davis were over the agreed upon 141 limit for the fight.

Perhaps Guzman took a page from lightweight contender Ali Funeka. You may recall that Guzman defeated Funeka this past March in the rematch of their controversial but lost the IBF title that was at stake prior to the bout when he weighed in 9 pounds over the 135 pound limit. Funeka received a 9 month suspension from the Nevada State Atheletic Commission after the bout for testing positive for the same diuretic, Furosemide.

The NSAC will determine Guzman's fate later this month.

Guzman, what a waste of talent. Guzman had all the tools, skills, and talent to compete with the very best. But he's a mess when it comes to discipline, work ethic, and respect for the sport. I think everyone can agree that Guzman is an idiot. So long "waste of talent" Guzman.

Joan is a sad waste of talent. The JWW is loaded and he had a good chance to show his stuff. At this point in his career with his style he pretty much can call it a day as a top contender
We have to bear in mind WHY Guzman won. He won because he didn't drain himself and then laughed about it at the weigh in. He's a rotten cunt. When the playing field was level, Funeka destroyed him easily.
I doubt Guzman's fat was the difference, he made an adjus...
