Dan-Bundu Eliminator Called For Kell Brook Title Shot

The IBF have called for Ionut Dan Ion (also known as Jojo Dan) 33-2 (18 KOs) to face Leonard Bundu 31-0-2 (11 KOs) in a final eliminator to become the mandatory challenger to their new welterweight champion, Kell Brook. Dan is currently ranked number two by the sanctioning body and is on a four fight winning streak with his last loss coming by way of close decision against Selcuk Aydin in 2011. The Canada based Romanian picked up a career best win last November, claiming a split decision victory against previously unbeaten Kevin Bizier.

Seven fights took place as part of the eighth annual Fight Club series, which take place at the Holiday Inn Pointe-Claire, a suburb of Montreal, and promoted by Eye of the Tiger Management. In the main bout of the evening, Shiller Hyppolite (11-1, 8KOs) ccaptured the WBC Fecarbox super middleweight title with a first round stoppage of Rafael Sosa Pintos (46-10) with a hard shot to the body.

Schaefer wants to bring Thurman back on April 26th in a Showtime televised fight from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The scores were 116-111, 114-113 for Dan and 117-110 for Bizier. The referee took an unnecessary point away from Dan for holding in the tenth In a battle of middleweight bangers, David Lemieux (31-2, 29KO's) dropped Jose Miguel Torres (27-6, 24KO's) seven times for a TKO in seven. Lemieux dropped Torres twice in the second, once at the end of the fourth, twice in the sixth and two more times in the seventh before Torres' corner threw in the towel.

New York, NY - Earlier tonight, DiBella Entertainment presented the latest edition of its Broadway Boxing series, before yet another sold-out crowd at NYC's historic Roseland Ballroom. Headlining thestacked nine-bout card was comebacking former junior middleweight world champion and Brooklyn's own Yuri Forman. DBE In his second comeback fight, since returning to the ring following a long layoff, Foreman squared off against Gundrick King (18-10, 11KO's) in a six-round junior middleweight matchup. Foreman masterfully outboxed King over six rounds, en route to winning a unanimous decision. Scorecards read 60-54 across the board. King had no answer for the adept footwork and sly defense of Foreman, who continues his quest for another world title opportunity.

Undefeated welterweight Maurice Hooker (7-0-1, 5 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Cameron Kreale (2-4-2, 0 KOs) in the opener.

All fighters successfully made weight for the 2012 season finale of Lou DiBella’s Broadway Boxing series, which takes place Wednesday night at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. The December 19 show doubles as a special event to benefit those still suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which ravaged must of the Northeast this past fall. The night’s proceeds will be donated in full to the American Red Cross, with additional funds to be raised by a silent auction. Promoter Lou DiBella is personally donating several items from his own collection for the auction.
