J'Leon Love Reveals He Asked For Rosado, Ready To Shine

Middleweight contender J’Leon Love is gearing up to for not only the toughest test of his career when he takes on Gabriel Rosado on May 4th, but also the biggest stage he’s fought on as he will be part of the televised undercard to Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero’s mega fight.

Love is fighting under Mayweather’s promotional banner and is considered one of boxing’s top promising contenders. Rosado will be a big step up in class for Love who only has 15 professional fights but Love feels he’s ready for his latest assignment. In fact, what most don’t know is that it was Love himself who asked for this fight.

“We [actually] asked for Gabriel Rosado. That's the thing, a lot of people don't know [that] I asked for these tough fights. This is something I’ve been waiting on my whole life. Like I said I'm ready for it. Rosado is a tough fighter and he's going to come and bring it but I believe in myself. I'm confident and I'm ready to rock” said Love as he prepared to workout at the Mayweather Boxing Club.

Love has garnered experience throughout the years as he was also one of Antonio Margarito’s chief sparring partners for his preparation for the rematch with Miguel Cotto. Since then, Love has made a home for himself in Las Vegas, NV and trains at the Mayweather Boxing Club alongside Floyd himself.

Taking on Rosado, who has had a career resurgence despite losing to Gennady Golovkin in his last outing, is going to be a true gauge as to where Love is truly at. Love agrees that fights like these are what are going to prove and show he’s ready for the next level.

“When you get to the top you want to be ready to face the best. And right now, Rosado is one of those tough guys that lets you know if you're there; if you have it or you don't and that's why we asked for him. Here's the thing man, I know he's a great fighter but I believe in myself. I do believe in myself and my ability [and] I know he believes in himself and his ability so I want to separate myself from the rest. I want to fight these tough guys that these guys are afraid of and I'm definitely not afraid” expressed Love.

This test will come on a big stage and seen by millions of people as Love will be part of the televised undercard May 4th. Love takes it in stride and if anything, he’s looking forward to the moment.

“I need to come out and do what I do best and that's showcase my talent. I had a few TV fights and I'm really getting comfortable and this is it man. Pay per View, Floyd Mayweather's undercard; you can't ask for anything more. This is something I've been dreaming about my whole life so I'm definitely, definitely going to make it happen” Love would tell BoxingScene.

Love will look to keep his perfect record intact and his career progressing when he tangles with Rosado in an intriguing Middleweight match up on May 4th.
