The rematch with Abner Mares is likely going to be the final fight at 126-pounds for WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47KOs). 2013 was a big year for Gonzalez, who catapulted himself back in the spotlight with first round stoppage of previously undefeated Abner Mares.

Gonzalez is motivated to become a three division world champion and wants to make a move to super featherweight in 2014. He was scheduled to face Mares in a rematch on February 15th, but Mares withdrew on Monday with a rib injury. Gonzalez is waiting for a new date.

"It's been a good year, and the best years for me are still to come. It is my dream to become a world champion in three different weight divisions. I have no doubt that I can do it, plus I love new challenges. There are great fighters in that division like Mikey Garcia, who is the best at that weight and I would not pass up a fight against him," said Gonzalez.
