The promoters of WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (56-8, 47KOs), and former four division champion Jorge 'Travieso' Arce (64-7-2, 49KOs), have reached an initial agreement for a showdown on September 27 in Los Mochis, Mexico. The official announcement could come down next week, once details are finalized.
On Tuesday a meeting was held in Los Mochis between the officials from local and state government with Osvaldo and Reginaldo Küchle who promote Gonzalez, and Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, who promote Arce.
They are finalizing the television aspect of the agreement, which is going to make history Mexico - because the agreement would allow both TV Azteca and Televisa to simultaneously showcase the fight.
"You can say that there was an initial agreement. We met with Governor Mario López Valdez, with the Mayor Arturo Duarte and promoter Fernando Beltran. We have not signed anything but we are in very formal talks, missing the point of the television, which we will discuss with both Azteca and Televisa to announce the fight," revealed Osvaldo Küchle, who said the fight would be on September 27, although the networks could change it. "Everything was agreed upon except the television [details]."
