Jhonny Gonzalez: I'd Face Mikey Garcia or Gamboa Next

By Jhonny Gonzalez

The WBC featherweight champion of the world, Jhonny Gonzalez (48-7, 42 KOs), returns this Saturday on the Paul Williams-Erislandy Lara card at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City against Tomas Villa. An easy win is expected for Gonzalez. Although there are reports that his camp turned down a "lucrative six figure" deal to face Yuriorkis Gamboa on September 10, also in Atlantic City, Gonzalez states that he would be willing to face Gamboa in September. Another fighter on Gonzalez's list is undefeated rising star Mikey Garcia.

"I definitely think right now I'm in the best moment of my career and I am ready to use it. I will soundly beat Tomas Villa, a fighter with great stamina, but I also want to make challenges against the best like Mickey Garcia and Yuriorkis Gamboa. I think they are the best in the division right now and I would be ready by September," he told Sal Rodriguez.
