Former three time world champion Jhonny Gonzalez (57-9, 48KOs) of Mexico has just concluded the toughest and most rugged stage of his preparation for the August 1st duel against Japan's Kazuki Hashimoto in Morelia for the WBC International super featherweight title.
As previously reported, Jhonny made some changes to his team. After seven years, he is no longer led by Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio 'Nacho' Beristáin. He is now being supervised by Fermín Hernández at the Diaz Miron Gym.
Jhonny is aware that his opponent is fast, so he's been focusing on timing and rapid movements during training.
Gonzalez is trying to recover after his April knockout loss to Gary Russell Jr. His ultimate aim is to secure a fight with formidable WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura of Japan.
