Jezze Carrasco Scores a Split Nod Over Steve Wijangco

Smithy’s Promotions boxer Jezze “El Rey” Carrasco has scored a split decision win over Brisbane’s Steve “The Magic Man” Wijangco.

In the biggest win of his career to date, Carrasco used his edge in speed to out box and out work the more experienced Wijangco, claiming the points win after 4 tough rounds which were televised live on Fox Sports as part of the Ace boxing promotions card at the Greek club in Brisbane.

The fight left trainer Brandon Wood very pleased with his fighter’s performance.

“We were very happy with the fight in so far as it being Jezze’s first televised fight which can add a different dimension to the whole event” said Wood.

“Steve is a strong pressure fighter who came forward as we expected and Jezze boxed and moved to take away his strengths. With only having had six pro fights he is improving all the time and I look forward to him reaching his potential.”

This marks Jezze’s second win in two weeks and the Toowoomba boxer couldn’t be happier.

“It was a great fight to be in, especially against a tough warrior like Wijangco” said Carrasco.

“All I can say is win, lose or draw, I’m having fun while I’m in there.”

“I would also like to thank my trainer Brandon Wood and my manager Brendon Smith for making all this happen”.

Carrasco will return home to Toowoomba today with trainer Brandon Wood, before plotting the rising star’s next move.
