Jesus Geles Promises To Shock Melindo in Manila Bout

The build up for the super fight card Pinoy Pride 14 Night of Champion is on and the people involved and behind the much anticipated boxing event, this time at the Resort’s World Manila are grinding in preparation for the said boxing spectacle.

While the main event of the 14 edition of ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports boxing roadshow featuring two division world champion and current WBO Light Flyweight World Champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes defending his title against WBO and IBF World # 7 Felipe Salguero is getting all the attention, the supporting main undercard match-up may just steal the show.

The said match-up will be between the Philippines more notable rising star Milan “Metodico” Melindo going up against former world champion Jesus Geles of Cartagena, Colombia. Both fighters have similar aggressive styles and both fighters are young and known to be pretty confident in their approach to the game.

The confident Colombian Geles, who won his world title against hard charging Mexican Ramon Garcia Hirales last year but lost it in a rematch, says he has been preparing very well in Cartagena at the Centro de Alto Redimiento, where he always prepare for his bouts.

“Melindo is known to be a technical fighter. I am also a technical fighter and this will be a very interesting fight. I am hungry and am preparing myself to win,” said the Colombian Geles.

Geles added “I am still young and hungry to regain my title and at 112 I am comfortable. I learned a lot from losing my world title and it will surely help me win my fight with Melindo. KO or decision I am preparing myself to win and I would like to thank ALA Promotions and All Star Boxing TutoZabala, Jr. and my manager Osvaldo Martinez for believing in me and giving me another opportunity.”

The Melindo-Geles tiff is part of a triple championship event on June 2, 2012 at the Resorts World Manila. The fight card also includes rising undefeated Filipino prospect Genesis “Azukal” Servania going up against “The Real” Genaro Garcia.
