The welterweight champion of the World Boxing Organization, Jessie Vargas, is confident that he can land a big unification for the summer.

Vargas has issued a challenge to WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia, who is interested in the match. Garcia doubts the contest can happen because of his affiliation with manager Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions, while Vargas is promoted by Top Rank. Haymon and Top Rank are involved in an ongoing lawsuit.

If he's unable to get Garcia, then Vargas (27-1, 10 KO) would love to get in the ring with IBF champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs) of the UK.

Brook himself is having a tough time securing a big fight for the summer. Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is interested in matching his fighter against Vargas, Timothy Bradley or Miguel Cotto at 154.

Vargas would like to headline his own event in Las Vegas and sees Brook as a perfect opponent for that.

"I would love to be a headliner in Las Vegas, to have my own event. I think I've earned it," said Vargas to ESPN Deportes. "I like the fight [with Garcia], in fact I am the one who proposed it. He said yes but I do not know if that fight will happen. But if not then let's do Kell Brook. He came before to fight in the United States, he wants big fights and I'm sure he would be interested to unify with me as much as I want to fight him."
