Jessie Vargas: I'll Catch Lopez if He Comes Forward

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com caught up with undefeated junior welterweight Jessie Vargas at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas. Vargas, who recently appeared on BoxingScene's audio show, The Boxing Lab, said that he was prepared for anything that his opponent Josesito Lopez brings to the ring on September 17th.  Lopez is known as an aggressive fighter who comes towards his opponent.  Vargas feels that Lopez would be making a mistake by trying that against him.

Vargas told BoxingScene, "If he comes forward I am going to catch him."  Vargas then looked straight into our camera and said, "Jose, I am going to catch you!  If you back off it might take me a round or two more but you know I am coming out with the win."

Vargas-Lopez opens up the televised pay per view undercard underneath the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz main event that takes place on September 17th in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.

Lopez is a good opponent, it's not going to be an easy fight.
