Jessie Vargas, Deandre Latimore ShoBox Heads To Vegas

by Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a Showtime televised doubleheader, scheduled for February 24th, and featuring welterweight contender Jessie Vargas (17-0, 9KOs) and junior middleweight Deandre Latimore (22-3, 17KOs) - will head to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and tickets are scheduled to go on sale today. Showtime will broadcast the fights as part of their ShoBox series.

Latimore has racked up two consecutive victories since losing a close majority decision to Sechew Powell in March of 2010. Vargas, who last September at the MGM Grand won a very gutsy ten round split decision over Josesito Lopez on the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz undercard, will test the waters in the lucrative welterweight division.

The opponents will be finalized shortly.
