Jayson Velez Ready To Battle Jose A. Beranza in Caguas

Caguas, P.R. – Top prospect and undefeated featherweight sensation Jayson "La Maravilla" Vélez (17- 0, 13 KOs) is ready to face the biggest challenge of his career this Saturday, March 24th, at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum. As part of the event "Boxeo Boricua In Caguas: It's My Time", Velez faces dangerous veteran Jose Angel Beranza (34-22-2,26 KOs) in a 10-round bout.  Jayson Vélez is coming off a convincing fifth round KO against Mexico's Jonathan "El Diamante" Arias. 

Immersed in the final part of his preparation, Jayson said that he is in a great physical condition to face Beranza, who has been characterized by providing exciting fights, even seizing important undefeated prospects like Christopher Martin, Juan Carlos Velázquez and Jesús Rojas .

"This fight motivates me even more because I know good things are coming for my career.  I am 110% prepared and ready for the big names in my division. I will defeat Beranza", commented an excited Jayson Vélez.

Meanwhile, his opponent expressed to feel ready to put a # 1 to loss column on the record of Jayson and thwart his dreams.

"I'm going to Puerto Rico to beat the one called “La Maravilla". I came very well prepared for this fight. And I will beat him in his hometown," reiterated the veteran Jose Angel Beranza.

Vélez vs. Beranza will be the headliner of the famous TV series "Solo Boxeo Tecate" which airs on Telefutura.

"This fight once again revives the classic battle between Puerto Rico vs. Mexico, and certainly we know that Jayson is ready for this challenge", stated the World Super Welterweight champion and promoter Miguel Cotto.

Also, promoter and entrepeneur, Héctor Soto coincided with the importance of the challenge that Beranza provides for "La Maravilla" Vélez.

"This fight is a great opportunity to Jayson for the world to see his skills and to make clear that he is one of the most important prospects of Puerto Rico", stated Soto.

Also in action a highly expected bantamweight rematch between Jonathan Vidal (14-0, 8KB's) vs. Felix Perez (7-3, 3KO's).  Also making his anticipated debut under Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment, will be undefeated lightweight sensation Jeffrey Fontanez (4-0, 4KO's). Starling Cordero, Emanuel Rivera, O'Nell Negrón and Jose Martínez will see action in the event. "

Boxeo Boricua in Caguas: It's My Time" will be held at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, from 7 pm.
