Javier Francisco Maciel of Buenos Aires left last night to travel to Russia where this Saturday he will fight for the middleweight world title of World Boxing Organization, which is held by unbeaten champion Dmitry Pirog. Maciel (18-1-1, 12 KOs) broke late from the Ezeiza International Airport, where technical flaws in the internal mechanisms that establishes communication between the aircraft and control towers at all airports in Argentina, led to many suspended flights that were rescheduled or, in other cases canceled.
The delegation accompanying the WBO Latino Champion, 26, is made by the international manager Mario Margossian, Eduardo Molina as the main cornerman of Maciel and chief second Ismael Chaves, along with businessman and political leader Carlos Heller.
Dmitry Pirog (17-0, 14 KOs), 30, earned his first world belt, with a five round stoppage of Daniel Jacobs in Las Vegas in October 2010. The battle between Pirog and Maciel, will be held in the cold city of Ekaterinburg, located about 1700 kilometers east of Moscow, Russia.
