IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (23-1, 14 KOs) believes former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants him to be a part of The Money Team.

In several previous interviews, DeGale had claimed that Mayweather was attempting to be his friend in order to use him to get close to his attractive sister.

DeGale is advised by Al Haymon, who also works closely with Mayweather.

Mayweather retired from the sport in September 2015 after winning a twelve round decision over Andre Berto. Since that time, he's become more focused on his promotional company, Mayweather Promotions.

DeGale is promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, but that agreement is coming very close to the end. If DeGale defeats Jack, and then becomes a free agent, the Olympic gold medal winner will become a hot property with two world titles around his waist.

"It's a bit weird because every time I meet Floyd Mayweather, it seems like he likes me," DeGale told Sky Sports. "After the last press conference, it was a bit busy and a bit hectic, but my mum got a text from his PA and it said: Floyd didn't get the chance to catch-up with James, can Floyd have James's number, please.

"He wants me to be part of the Money Team, I'm telling you.  He's got a soft spot for me, I'm telling you. But skills pay the bills and that's that."
