De La Rosa Ready For Big Stage With Alfredo Angulo

James De La Rosa (22-2, 13KOs) is training for the most high profile fight of his career. He returns on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he faces Alfredo Angulo (22-4, 18KOs). The fight will be part of the undercard to the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana Showtime Pay-Per-View. Angulo, coming off two TKO defeats to Saul Alvarez and Erislandy Lara, will make his debut as a middleweight. The fight is going to happen at a catch-weight of 162-pounds.

Featured on the four-fight pay-per-view telecast, fan favorite Leo "Terremoto" Santa Cruz will put his WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship on the line in a 12-round championship bout against Mexican contender Manuel "Suavecito" Roman, plus Tijuana-Baja's pride Miguel "Títere" Vazquez defends his IBF Lightweight World Championship against Mayweather Promotions' rising star Mickey "The Spirit" Bey. In the opening bout on pay per view, Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo returns to the ring against James De La Rosa in a 10-round bout. James De La Rosa Tests Positive For Banned Diuretic

Middleweight boxer James De La Rosa came up positive for the banned diuretic Furosemide in a drug test taken for his bout last month against Marcus Willis, according to Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada Athletic Commission. A complaint against De La Rosa has been issued and served, Kizer said. The nine other boxers who appeared on the April 12 card at the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas came up negative in the state’s drug-screening panel.

Marcus Oliveira took one step closer to the WBA light heavyweight title by defeating Ryan Coyne via knockout. The stoppage occurred at the 1:15 mark of the 11th round. Through 8 rounds the fighters traded winning rounds and neither could establish their dominance but Oliveira's advantage in power was evident. Coyne didn't have enough to keep his opponent off of him. Olveira got stronger as the fight went on and staggered Coyne in the 10th round. Coyne went down early in the 11th but rose to his feet just before the 10 count. He was out on his feet though and dint respond to a flurry of punches prompting referee Jay Nady to stop the fight.
