Tijuana's Iván Morales is in negotiations for a bantamweight fight against former world champion Vic Darchynian on a date in March, according to the Mexican contender's older brother Erik Morales.

"My brother Ivan should be fighting this year for a belt, and a fight against Darchynian would be a good test before the big fight," said the former world champion in four different divisions.

The undefeated "Niño Maravilla" Morales (27-0, 15 KOs), 23 years old, is ranked in three of the major world organizations (number 6 in the WBC, WBA at 12 and 15 under the IBF).

The young fighter has faced experienced rivals such as Roberto Lopez, Luis César Canchila and "Titi" Maldonado, Raul Hidalgo and Russian Timur Shailezov in Texas.

"Raging Bull" Darchynian (39-7-1, 28 KOs), 39, is the executioner of Mexican fighters, with wins against Victor Burgos, Cristian Mijares, Jorge Arce, Tomas Rojas and Rodrigo "Gato" Guerrero. He suffered defeats to elite fighters like Nonito Donaire (twice), Joseph Agbeko, Abner Mares, Anselmo Moreno, Shinsuke Yamanaka and Nicholas Walters.
