Challenger Alejandro “Payasito”  Hernandez of Mexico who has a record of 22-7-1 with 11 knockouts  predicts he will beat undefeated  WBO super flyweight champion “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KO’s) who is making his first defense of the title he won with a rousing twelve round decision over Jose “Carita” Lopez of Puerto Rico at Casino Rama in Ontario last September 4.

Boxing writer Rob Cruz who reported on the final pre-fight press conference quoted Hernandez as saying that the fight will go the distance and the decision will go in his favor.

However, the challenger said that while Sonsona is a tough opponent he is ready for battle and will bank on his experience to make the difference.

Hernandez said he watched a tape of Sonsona’s title-winning fight against Lopez and will not make the same mistakes as Lopez in their fight also at Casino Rama on Sunday, Manila Time. At the same time Hernandez warned that should Sonsona get careless and make a mistake he would capitalize on it and go for a knockout.

Elite trainer Nonito Donaire Sr squelched concerns over Sonsona having trained “just enough” for his voluntary title defense against Hernandez and said the 19 year old southpaw from General Santos City was 110 percent prepared and looking forward to the fight which will be telecast in the Philippines by Solar Sports and GMA 7.

Also featured on the fight card promoted by Orion Sports Management under its president Allan Tremblay will be undefeated WBO Oriental super bantamweight champion  Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales (13-0, 8 KO’s), another promising young prospect handled by Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani.

Morales takes on Miguel Angel Gonzalez Piedras who has a record of 10-1 with 4 knockouts. Morales is coming off a 5th round TKO of Thailand’s Pichitchai Twins Gym last January 31. Morales won the title also with a 5th round TKO over South Korea’s Yoo S hin Kim on April 6, 2008.

Tremblay said “ Rumble at Rama” will be an exciting card with all indications pointing to another predominantly pro-Filipino crowd similar to the fans that showed up when Sonsona won the title from Lopez at the same venue.
