The trauma surgeon attending to Z “The Dream” Gorres says the classy fighter from the famed ALA Gym has “dramatically improved.”

Dr. Michael Casey made the statement in a conference with ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, adding “ I am happy with his development.”

In a statement sent to BoxingScene.com, insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports after his meeting with Dr. Casey, Aldeguer said Gorres has “ a good chance to live a functional life not necessarily a normal life for now because he may need to rehabilitate his left side and this may need time.”

He also revealed that Gorres was taken off the critical list but is still in serious condition.

Doctors attending to the fallen fighter may take him off the ventilator within the next 48 hours. It was also reported that Gorres “reacted to certain commands though not yet consistent”

In stating that the progress of Gorres was remarkable, Dr. Casey indicated such progress” is normally seen in two weeks but because Z is young and in great health he responded well in only 5 days.”

ALA patron Tony Aldeguer, the respected father of the youthful Michael Aldeguer informed us that Ms. Aldeguer was leaving for Las Vegas on Thursday to assist their son in taking care of the needs of Gorres whose wife Duchess is having her papers processed so she could also leave to be at the bedside of her husband.

The Aldeguer family said they were pleased to  hear the news about the dramatic improvement in Gorres’ condition and would like to thank everyone “for all the prayers that we know  have helped Z recover from the biggest fight of his life.   Please continue to pray for Z"

The flashy world-rated southpaw scored a smashing tenth round unanimous decision in a bantamweight bout over the hard-hitting Colombian Luis Melendrez at the Mandalay Bay House of Blues last Saturday but collapsed as he staggered to his corner after hearing the decision and draping a Philippine flag around his shoulders and was rushed to hospital.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Seiff had to operate on Gorres who suffered a blood clot to drain the fluid and ease the pressure on his swollen brain, immediately.

This is very good news. Power of prayer really helps. Hopefully with Gods grace he will continue to fully recover and have a normal life. But he has to give up his boxing career, or he can be a trainer someday maybe.
