| Oscar De La Hoya Promises To Never Return Again
|
|
By Mark Vester Former six division champion Oscar De La Hoya, who announced his retirement from the sport on Tuesday, is promising to never return again. De La Hoya, 36, lost four of his last seven fights, including a one-sided beating at the hands of Manny Pacquiao last December. Pacquiao, with only one fight under his belt at lightweight, moved up by two weight divisions to meet De La Hoya at welterweight. Oscar was a heavy favorite to win. The one-sided nature of the fight was even surprising to the few who picked Pacquiao to win. In the sport of boxing, it is very hard to take a fighter's "retirement" seriously. Most of the fighters who announce their retirement are back in the ring within a year or two. De La Hoya wants to follow the same plan as former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, who retired several years ago and never returned again. "I am convinced that I will not return. In my last few fights, that wasn't me. And I will not fall into the same trap as other boxers who continue to fight," De La Hoya said. Ugh! ... stepping into permanent retirement is the noblest thing he can do at this stage, but to take away the victory of great fighters who defeated him by claiming, he was not on himself during those loses is not just greed drove him to speaks on this, but the most ungentleman manner he behaved... |

As i sad earlier, i hope there won`t be any sh*t in Sugar Leonard`s style...
The return is possible in couple of years... Because it is Oscar... and if he comes back he breaks PPV records... |

Thank goodness... sigh of relief... I've treated DLH pretty rough these last couple of years... I respect him alot though... I admire his courage and willingness to compare his skill set to the other top fighters. It just comes a time where you just need to realize you are not even average anymor... |
