Feeling the pressure from the public over not facing WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe spoke out and said that he already beat a better fighter than Pavlik last year when he won a unanimous decision over Mikkel Kessler. Calzaghe says that people were making the same comments about Kessler and whether or not he was afraid to fight the tough Dane.

”Pavlik? It's like deja-vu. I was asked the same about Mikkel Kessler - who I think is a better fighter than Kelly Pavlik, by the way - and I've beaten him," Calzaghe said to Setanta Sports News.

According to Calzaghe, Pavlik has not done enough to prove himself in the ring. He says fighters will always continue to call him out, but at some point he has to think about walking away. Calzaghe has said that his upcoming bout with Roy Jones Jr. on November 8 at New York's Madison Square Garden will be probably be the final fight of his career.

"Now all of a sudden there's a guy who's had one or two decent wins and they call me out. It's always going to be the case - how long can you go on for? The choice between Pavlik and Roy Jones was easy to make. I still don’t think Kelly Pavlik has really proven himself,” Calzaghe said.
