Ike Quartey's Wife, Barbara, Passes Away

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised that Ike Quartey's wife, Barbara, has tragically passed away at the age of 47. She was having difficulties with breathing on Friday and was quickly rushed to the Raphael Clinic in Accra, Ghana. Her condition became worse with each passing day. On Sunday, Ike was informed that his wife was near death and he rushed to the medical facility to be at her side.

She experienced complications with diabetes, but the official cause of death is unknown. An autopsy has been requested by the family. Ike has two children with his wife, ages 13 and 21.

"I was just informed of the tragic passing of Barbara Quartey. She was a lovely woman, taken from her husband and two children much too soon. My prayers, the payers of Dibella Entertainment and the entire boxing world are with Ike, the kids and the entire Quartey family,” said Lou Dibella, promoter of Ike Quartey.
