With his sixth round stoppage of Italian Olympian Leonard Bundu on Sunday afternoon in Coney Island, unbeaten Errol Spence (21-0, 18KOs) solidified his standing as the top-ranked welterweight in the IBF.

Next up for the 2012 Olympian is a world title shot.

The IBF title is currently held by Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs), who moves up by thirteen pounds to challenge Gennady Golovkin for his IBO/IBF/WBA/WBC middleweight titles on September 10th at the O2 Arena in London.

Win or lose on September 10th, the IBF will push Brook to make a decision regarding his mandatory obligation to Spence.

Lindsey Tucker, the Championship Chairman for the IBF, told BoxingScene.com on Monday afternoon:

"Since it's an over-the-weight fight [with Golovkin], [Brook's] title wont be on the line. So assuming if he wins he's got ten days to make a decision to stay at middleweight or come back down to welterweight [to fight Spence]. If he loses, on October the 26th we will notify him to start negotiating with Errol Spence."

And if Brook should vacate the title regardless of the result of the Golovkin fight - "Then Spence will fight the leading available contender for the title," explained Tucker.
