Hugo Cazares: I Would Fight Vazquez Jr. in Puerto Rico

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com caught up with former two division champion Hugo Cazares at the WBC convention in Las Vegas. Cazares petitioned the WBC for a shot at fighting for their vacant bantamweight belt.

Javier Bustillo of Universal Promotions had previously told BoxingScene that he would like to match Cesar Seda against Cazares in Puerto Rico. He said that Cazares is well respected in Puerto Rico for his success on the island. Cazares' most notable wins in Puerto Rico were over Alex Sanchez and two victories over Nelson Dieppa. Many people also think that he did enough to defeat the then undefeated Ivan Calderon in their meeting.

When asked about facing Seda, Cazares said he wouldn't mind the fight but that he had a bigger fight in mind.

"I would fight him. The Puerto Rican people were very nice to me. The fight that I would really like is against [Wilfredo] Vazquez Jr." Stated Cazares.  "I think a fight against Papito would be huge, especially with my history in Puerto Rico," Cazares continued.

The former light flyweight champion would have to move up to 122 pounds to face Vazquez which he said wouldn't be a problem.

"I will eventually move up to super bantamweight and that is one of the fights that I want."

[QUOTE=Kannabis Kid;11577948]Lol Margarito wasnt all swollen, just his eye nothing more he looked fine and his stamina was excellent. In between the round where they stopped it he wasnt even breathing hard. Cotto on the other hand looked so relieved…
