Marco Huck's moment of truth is approaching very quickly. On the 25th of February, the WBO cruiserweight champion will attempt to make history at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, Germany - when he challenges Alexander Povetkin (23-0, 16KOs) for the WBA "regular" heavyweight title.
Huck (34-1, 25KOs) is reportedly looking good in sparring, as he steps in the gym with much larger men and dazzles them with his biggest advantage - speed.
Arguably one of most popular fighters in Germany, Huck is going to have the crowd's support, but in the ring he needs to approach Povetkin's size with care.
"I am satisfied [with my sparring sessions]. Last week the sparring phase began. When I've prepared in the past, I've sparred with heavyweights. Therefore, this is not entirely new to me. When a 120-kilo man [264-pounds] is trying to cling to me or leans on me, then that is obviously different than a cruiserweight [doing the same thing]. And the hard impact of the punches, I have to watch out for and move my head away from the line of fire. But this works well for me. With my speed, I make it very hard for my sparring partner," Huck said.
Marco's coach Ulli Wegner said - "Marco is not afraid. Certainly many experts see Povetkin as the favorite. But Marco has everything to go in there and make the impossible become possible."
Last week, Huck worked over a sparring partner so well, that it was necessary to send him home and hire a quick replacement.
