According to Russian promoter Vladimir "красивый" Hryunov, former two division champion Ricardo Mayorga (29-8-1, 23KOs) wants him to handle his career. After a stint in MMA, Mayorga is ready to return to the sport of boxing, but he's been inactive since 2011.
Hryunov wants to match him against undefeated middleweight prospect Dmitry Chudinov (12-0-2, 8KOs), who holds the WBA's International title at 160, but Mayorga falls short of the requirements for a title fight under the rules of the World Boxing Association.
To get off the rust, Hryunov is willing to help Mayorga get a comeback fight in February, and then match him against Chudinov in April.
"Mayorga has gone without fighting for over two years, and under WBA's rules he should definitely have at least a ten round fight [in that time period]. Now we are planning to hold [a fight for him] in early February in America. In the Nicaraguan press, Mayorga issued a statement about wanting me to become his promoter. He also sent me a message about it. I'm going to speak with his management," Hryunov said.
