BoxingScene.com has spoken with both promoters, Vladimir Hryunov and Don King, who confirm that WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs) took a post-fight drug test following his eleventh round TKO of Denis Lebedev at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.
The Russian Anti-Doping Agency [cooperates with the World Anti-Doping Agency] was in charge of the post-fight test.
Regarding the confusion in the Russian media, with various reports indicating that Jones would not agree to take a post-fight drug test - there was a dispute between the two promoters regarding the handling of the post-fight test.
King, not fully trusting the overseas testing process, wanted a sample for his own physician in the event RUSADA found issues with Jones' post-fight sample. If there was an issue with Jones' test, King wanted to send his sample to an American agency, VADA [Voluntary Anti-Doping Association], so they could confirm any potential issues being claimed by RUSADA. The two sides eventually reached an agreement.
Hryunov, who promotes Lebedev, said everything was fine and Jones was cooperative with the whole procedure and provided several testing samples.Tags: Don King , Denis Lebedev , Guillermo Jones
