Herrera: Danny Garcia Panics When He Sees Blood

Junior welterweight contender Mauricio Herrera said he saw a lot of flaws in WBC/WBA champion Danny Garcia. Herrera studied a lot of tapes and he says Garcia is not very active, wings his shots and panics when he sees his own blood. Herrera exposed some of those flaws on Saturday night in Bayamon, where he lost a close twelve round majority decision to Garcia, but many observers scored the fight a draw or had Herrera winning by a point or two.

"I don't think Danny was expecting me to come out like that. He was surprised and shocked tonight. I just hope that he gives me a rematch if he stays at 140. I was using  my jab, moving my head, using a lot of feints and staying alert," Herrera said. "He doesn't throw many punches. He wings a lot. Throws counter-shots. I knew that if I stick in the jab in there it would work for me."

"I saw the blood flow [when I busted his nose], I smelled blood. I was pumping my jab to continue the blood flowing, because I saw in other fights that when he starts to bleed he starts to panic. I saw that in his face and I wanted to keep that going. I didn't feel too much power. I thought he would punch harder because of how people talk about how big of a puncher that he is. When I felt his power I felt confident. I thought he would come forward and want to fight, so I when I saw him backing up I had to push the fight. Maybe he didn't throw as strong as he did in other fighters, but I sparred with a lot of counter-punchers who were really fast and better counter-punchers than him."
Look at the Theophane fight, a boxer with a good jab, feints a lot and can switch it up can give Danny problems. If he fights Paulie, I really would favor him to beat Danny
GBP will but him in there with slow footed slugs instead of swift footed cerebral fighters. Gu...

Why does that have to be nonsense??
Agreed. Herrera fought very good, and his style is tough for Danny. But to say Danny panics when he sees blood is BS and nonsense from Herrera!
Hey MH saw the footage, he was in the ring, he did the darn thing. Give it up. He beat Swift in the ring, but not by the powe...

I'm not so sure if he panics when he sees his own blood but what I do know is he couldn't find an answer for herrera's jab and head movement actually herrera's whole game plan and this guy is a world champion I don't think Danny wants any part of Herrera ever again if Danny goes to 147 it's to ge...

I like Garcia. He has had some great wins BUT unless he looks better in his next fight his stock will go down a bit. And he has to fight someone with a name and look good. Kinda like Bradley needed that W after the Pac fight. Im rooting for you Danny but its time to turn it up. On the flip side k...
