Some Bad luck for Robert Helenius. The unbeaten European heavyweight champion, 28-years-old, will undergo shoulder surgery in Heidelberg next week. Helenius has been having problems with his right shoulder for some time. He tried alternative treatments, which didn't work, and now surgery is the only option.

"We had hoped to take care of the injury without surgery, but unfortunately it has become necessary now,” Helenius said. “I will give the shoulder enough time to heal and then I will come back in style.”

Helenius is expected to return after the summer break. In his last fight in December, he won a twelve round decision over a much tougher than expected Dereck Chisora in Helsinki´s Hartwall Arena. A sold-out crowd of 13,000 were packed inside the venue to witness Helenius winning the vacant European heavyweight title.

“We wish Robert a speedy recovery,” said Chris Meyer, the General Manager of Team Sauerland. “We will give him the time he needs to be fully fit.”

He probably won't even have a surgery. He will return from his operation without a scar. This is just a ploy to buy time, let Helenius improve, and take a couple easy fights. The injury angle is just to keep the public pressure for him to fight a Klitschko at bay for at least another 12 months.
If he sucks as much as he did in the Chisora fight he shouldn't bother.
Boxing fans are such kind and understanding people.

if thats the case then this explains his lackluster performance against chisora

chisora fought a one-armed fighter. i had chisora winning but if helenius is healthy then maybe he wins in style. he is still the top contender to the klitschkos.
