The Nordic Nightmare, Robert Helenius, 19-0 (11), EBU # 2, WBO # 4 and IBF # 7, is ready to return to the ring after his injury related layoff, but Robert is moving back to Finland and is looking to break away from Sauerland Event, who have handled Helenius since he turned pro.
There are some yet to be named businessmen who want to take over the promotional contract from Sauerland and there are ongoing negotiations to make that happen. Sauerland CEO, Chris Meyer, says there is a valid managerial contract with Wilfried Sauerland and a valid promotional deal with Sauerland Event - and Meyer states "we do insist on these contracts."
One important factor is how the long injury layoffs should be counted. The Klitschko brothers had a long case against Universum on this and came out winning - but whether or not the contracts are similar is unknown. A paper in Finland writes that Helenius´ contracts expire at the end of the year but that is likely to be disputed.
One big reason for Helenius to move back to Finland is his family, where the oldest daughter is ready to begin school but there appears to be more behind it than that.
Robert will be trained in Finland by his father Kalle, who trained him through his amateur days, with Tom Witting handling the physical training.
Helenius was heading for the very top in the heavyweight division when in December 2011 took on Dereck Chisora in Helsinki. Robert won a controversial points win but injured his hand and shoulder and was out for almost a year. He then beat Sherman Williams and Michael Sprott but failed to impress and suffered another injury against Sprott in March and have been out since then.
