Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not worried about Al Haymon's involvement with Mexican star Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. It was revealed on Monday that Chavez signed on with the powerful adviser/manager.
For several weeks, Hearn has been trying to put together a fight between IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch and Chavez.
Chavez is currently in a legal battle with promoter Top Rank, who are confident Julio owes them one more fight pursuant to his contract.
While Top Rank and Haymon have a very tense relationship, Hearn is on good terms with both.
"It doesn't really change anything because Al Haymon is an adviser, not a promoter. The reports say he has one more fight left with Top Rank. I think Top Rank are keen to make the fight with Froch. I've already spoken to Al Haymon's team to let them know we are here and want the fight with Chavez Jr," Hearn told scribe Nick Parkinson.
"The problem is whether he opts for a comeback fight with the excuse that I've been out for a long time - and that's possible. But I don't think it changes anything. He gets advice from a different person now. We have got a relationship with Al Haymon because we have just made the world bantamweight title unification fight between Jamie McDonnell and their fighter Tomoki Kameda. We are speaking to Top Rank as well. It seems like there's still a lot more to unravel."
