British promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is running one of the most successful promotional companies in boxing. He has an exclusive television deal with Sky Sports and promotes numerous highly regarded champions, contenders and rising prospects.
Hearn is now seriously considering the possibility of entering the American market, which is largely dominated by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions.
“It’s something I’ve thought about for a while. The landscape is right over here [in the USA] now. Without being disrespectful, a lot of the promoters are quite old and it’s a great opportunity for a young promoter and a young company to come in," Hearn told IFL TV.
“There is a big opportunity for us out here. Over the next couple of months we’re going to try and put that in place, talk to broadcasters and get our head around the market, looking at potential fighters as well.”
