Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson, 29-6-1 (14), reached out to BoxingScene earlier this month to call for a fight with Britain’s undefeated Olympic Super heavyweight Gold Medalist Anthony Joshua, 9-0 (9). The New Jersey-based boxer’s plea did not fall on deaf ears as Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, has told The Daily Mail that Joshua versus Johnson could be lined up for a January date at London’s O2 Arena.

“I hope to put him on a show at the O2 on January 31,” said Hearn when speaking about the Londoner's New Year outing. “I’d like to see him fight Kevin Johnson of the US, a good fighter who went the distance with Vitali Klitschko.

Early indications suggest the fight won't be very hard to make.

“[I] would bring the best for Joshua,” stated Johnson, 35, when speaking to me on October 13. “It would be a great fight. Are they [Hearn and Matchroom] looking to do the fight and, if so, when?”

Johnson now has a potential answer to his question, but Joshua also has a November 22nd date with Michael Sprott on his plate, so he will have to get by Sprott before thinking about his next move.

However, the 25-year-old has yet to put a foot wrong as a pro; he is likely to enter 2015 with his ‘0’ intact and a fight with Johnson—not to mention the chance of going a few more rounds, Johnson has never been stopped—on the horizon.
