Hearn: Kell Brook an Obvious Opponent For Mayweather

By Edward Chaykovsky

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is willing to put IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22KOs) in the ring with the best opponents of the welterweight division.

Brook, who won the IBF title last Saturday from Shawn Porter, is being positioned to return on December 6th in Sheffield.

After the hometown defense, Hearn intends to pursue a fight between Brook and domestic rival Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs).

And then the next order of business is a fight with the biggest prize at the weight, WBA/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs). Mayweather defends his title on September 13th in a rematch with Marcos Maidana and then plans to fight in May.

"I think you have to say Kell is now in the running to face Floyd Mayweather," Hearn told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Everyone in the division wants to fight Floyd, but if you hold a world title then you are more likely to face him than if you don't.

"He's an obvious opponent and Mayweather is a target for 2015."
Once Brook Knocks Out Khan it makes total sense. It already makes more sense than Mayweather vs Khan because Brook has a legit Belt. Brook is also just more worthy because he doesn't have a glass chin like Khan. And…
Makes no sense at all. Khan is known by everyone & is more popular then Brook. Outside Sheffield Brook is hardly known bar boxing fans. Without doubt Khan-Mayweather will be a hundread times bigger than brook/Mayweather
Once Brook Knocks Out…
