Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs), says his boxer is certainly annoyed with all of the trash talking being done by WBO champion Joseph Parker and his promoter, David Higgins.
A deal is nearly complete for the two heavyweight to collide in the ring in a unification showdown, possibly on March 31 at Principality in Cardiff, Wales.
The two sides had been negotiating for weeks and finally cracked the ice last week when they reached an agreement on the revenue split, which both sides admitted was the biggest obstacle in making the fight a reality.
Parker and Higgins have been beating the drums on the topic of Joshua's chin.
They believe the British superstar has a questionable chin and have labeled him with the nickname of "the glass goose."
Back in November, they actually held a press conference in New Zealand with the local media, to present video evidence to back their position regarding Joshua's chin.
But Hearn says the constant trash talking has certainly fired Joshua up and things may become very personally by the time the media events come around.
"They are doing a good job of getting under AJ's skin and he wants to knock Joseph Parker out, simple as that. I wouldn't say it has become personal yet, but it is getting there," Hearn said to Stuff
"It's going to be interesting because we haven't really seen that with AJ before. So I'm excited to get this over the line and I'm excited for the buildup as well.
"There have been times when AJ has said to me about Higgins, 'who is this guy?' But he (Higgins) has got the attention and anything that makes the fight bigger, I'm all up for. I hope he brings that quirkiness with him to the press conferences but he may need his security if he pushes too many buttons on AJ."
