In one of the stranger occurrences in recent weeks, IBO super middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (24-1, 19 KOs) actually called out Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs), who holds the WBC cruiserweight title and last fought at heavyweight.

Eubank Jr. is more of a middleweight and recently went to 168 to grab a quick title and expand his range of possible opponents. Bellew, after his shocking stoppage win over former heavyweight champion David Haye on March 4, appears to be staying put at heavyweight for the moment.

Recently, Bellew and Eubank Jr. got in a war of words on social media, and Eubank Jr. dared Bellew to fight him at a catch-weight.

Everyone thought it was a bad joke, including Bellew and his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.

Hearn's position changed when he was actually contacted by father and manager Chris Eubank Sr., to see if there was any interest in matching Bellew against his son.

Just the idea of the fight is madness. Eubank last weighed 167, while Bellew was 213.

Hearn believes Eubank Jr. is just pulling another PR move to get people talking about him. Eubank has called out a lot of fighters in the last year - Billy Joe Saunders, Gennady Golovkin, Kell Brook, Daniel Jacobs, James DeGale, and even Conor McGregor.

"[Eubank] Senior messaged me and asked if there were any legs in this [fight] and I was just.... [Bellew is] 15 stone and he wants to fight Tony Bellew. A middleweight calling out a heavyweight. I don't know what to say," Hearn told IFL TV.

"It was bizarre. And they are actually saying 'do you want to have a chat about this?' and I'm like 'no.' I told [Bellew] that [they contacted me] and he was like 'what?' He just thought it was half a joke on Twitter. But Eubank likes calling out these guys, it gets people talking about him, but he just never fights them, that's all."
