Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is confident that Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) will make good on his career expectations by defeating Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) for the IBF welterweight title on August 16th from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

For at least two years, Brook has been chasing a high profile domestic showdown with Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs). Despite repeated attempts by Brook and his promoter, Khan has rejected the match. Khan believes strongly that Brook has never beaten a single opponent who was ranked in the top five and refuses to entertain the fight until Brook has actually accomplished something significant.

If Brook defeats Porter next month, Hearn expects the boxing public to apply so much pressure on Khan to trade punches with Brook that it's going to be very difficult for Khan to walk away from the challenge.

“I think that once Kell beats Porter, the public demand for Brook-Khan will be so big it will be impossible for Khan not to take the fight,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
