Former two division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24KOs) is preparing himself, training through the holidays, for his comeback on January 16th against tough Australian Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26KOs) at the O2 Arena in London.
Haye has been inactive since knocking out Dereck Chisora in July of 2012.
Three of the younger players in the heavyweight division include WBC champion Deontay Wilder, WBA/IBO/WBO champion Tyson Fury and Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua. Haye gave his thoughts on the three when he was asked for his opinion regarding the young wave of stars coming up.
"Wilder has a good punch. I know him very well. In 2013, he was a sparring partner in my training camp. He hits pretty damn hard and is incredibly athletic. He would probably floor Fury, maybe [Wladimir] Klitschko. AJ has similar power. He looks good and he [worked over] Fury when he was still an amateur. If [Joshua] continues on this path, he will soon fight for a world title. But I am convinced that none of the three are better than me," Haye was quoted by German radio.
Within the next few months, Haye wants to get himself in position to face the best fighters in the division. The biggest change for Haye is his corner. He replaced longtime trainer Adam Booth with Shane McGuigan, who is best known for training unbeaten bantamweight champion Carl Frampton.
"I wanted a complete fresh start with a new team. Shane McGuigan is my new coach. He is very young, only 27, but incredibly good at what he does. I was surprised myself, that he can still teach an old hare like myself. We've worked with each other for two months now, and I feel like a new person," Haye said.
