WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is giving Polish star Tomasz Adamek a shot to beat WBC champion Vitali Klitschko on September 10th in Poland. Adamek, like Haye, is a former cruiserweight champion who moved up to the heavyweight division. But, Haye has a feeling that Vitali will withdraw from the fight.
Haye is facing younger brother, IBO/WBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, on July 2 in Hamburg, Germany. He expects to give Wladimir such a beating, that Vitali will withdraw from the Adamek fight in order to get revenge. Haye then expects Wladimir to fight Adamek instead.
"I'm not sure of how much of a chance [Adamek's] got. He's small like myself. He's got a lot of heart. I like what he's done in the heavyweight division. He hasn't fought the best out there, but he's new to the division and I think he's got a chance. Vitali is getting on in years. But, whether Vitali fights Adamek is another thing. I'm thinking I knockout Wladimir in July, and then I'm thinking maybe Wladimir might fight Adamek, and I'll fight Vitali. After I knockout Wladimir Klitschko, his brother is not going to want to fight Adamek, he's going to want to get revenge and fight me knowing that I'm going to retire in October," Haye told OnTheGrind Boxing Radio.
