David Haye’s comeback fight may land on British television after all.

After much debate and speculation as to where the former world cruiserweight and heavyweight champion’s January 16 bout against Mark De Mori would be shown, Boxing Scene understands that the UK channel Dave may have picked up the rights.

ITV, Spike, BT Sport, Apple TV and even Haye’s own YouTube channel have all been linked to broadcasting the 'Haye Day' promotion which takes place at London’s O2 Arena.

Scene’ received information this evening (January 5) that a popular London TV magazine, which receives updates on TV listings before they are public knowledge, has a change in Dave’s scheduling for January 16 and shows the Haye-De Mori fight as part of their programming for that day.

Dave, available on some satellite platforms including Sky TV (channel 111) as well as freeview, is owned by UKTV. In 2007 UKTV announced they would relaunch and rename UKTV G2 as Dave the following month.

Since then the channel has shown a host of well known programmes including Top Gear, Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, QI, Dragon’s Den and has proven popular with the 16-34 male demographic.

With just over 10 days to go until the fight, this will be welcome news for Team Haye and their fans. Boxing Scene tried to contact representatives of Haye but they were unavailable for comment.

Haye, now 35-years-old, was a guest on Dave's 24 Hours to Go Broke programme in 2014. The one-off series featured comedians and celebrities split into pairs and asked to go abroad to spend thousands of pounds of the channel’s money in just 24 hours, while abiding to strict rules. In episode two, Haye was teamed with comedian Seann Walsh with the pair travelling to Cork in their quest

After his boxing career was cut short due to injury problems, Haye was seen making a number of television appearances afterwards in a bid to cross over to the wider general public These included ITV’s reality series I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here as well as Top Gear, Through the Keyhole, All Star Family Fortunes and others. Haye has also said on more than one occasion that he would like to establish himself as an actor. Now, the hard-hitting Londoner is looking to resurrect former glories in the ring.

‘The Hayemaker’, will embark on his first fight with new trainer Shane McGuigan, one that he hopes will be the first step on the road to another world heavyweight title.
