Khan Looks Forward To Slachev Test in Blackpool

•Nov 3, 2013

Unbeaten prospect Haroon Khan will take on Bulgarian Stefan Slavchev in Blackpool on November 15. The 2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist (2-0 1KO) has made a blazing start to his professional career after making the leap into the paid ranks earlier this year, scoring a win over the tricky Brett Fidoe on debut before knocking out Vincente Medellin in a sensational performance in Atlantic City. As the younger brother of former unified world champion, Amir Khan, the talented super-flyweight possesses much of the same skill set, including his quick hands and thrilling combinations.

Anthony Yigit´s next fight will be against Andrei Sudas at the Nordic Fight Night in Albertslund. The highly-rated 22-year-old (5-0-1, 1 KO) can´t wait to bounce back from the first minor disappointment of his career. In Kolding, only one judge had him ahead against Tony Pace, with the other two scoring the bout a draw. “I thought I had done enough to win the fight,” Yigit said. “But I will of course respect the decision and learn from my mistakes. I know what I am capable of doing inside the ring and plan to set the record straight as soon as possible. I´ll jump back on the horse and carry on.” Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: “Anthony is a huge talent, a Swedish Olympian with incredible skills. The draw will not harm his career at all. He will get the chance to make up for it straight away. He knows what he has to do differently next time out. Can he dig it? Yes he can!

Amir Khan believes he is discovering a new maturity as a fighter after moving to a new trainer and taking on responsibility for brother Haroon's boxing career. Khan won his first two fights under San Francisco-based Virgil Hunter after consecutive defeats against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia saw him lose his light-welterweight world titles. The 26-year-old's most recent fight, a points win over Julio Diaz in April, saw him down in the fourth round and Khan has been working on a more disciplined approach as he bids to set up a challenge to IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander, which is pencilled in for December 7 if a deal can be struck.

Haroon Khan marked his professional debut with a 40-37 points win over Lincoln's Brett Fidoe at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield tonight. The 21-year-old younger brother of Amir looked ragged at times but had too much power for his limited opponent, who slipped to his third defeat in four professional bouts. The younger Khan had taken his time to turn over to the paid ranks after winning a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi representing Pakistan. He served early notice of his attacking intent by backing Fidoe into a neutral corner on the back of a strong left hand, but the game Fidoe did a good job of preventing the favourite gaining too much momentum.
