Guillermo Rigondeaux Inks Extension With Top Rank

by Rick Reeno

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has advised BoxingScene.com that WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0, 8KOs) has signed an 18 month extension of his promotional contract. Rigondeaux's two-year contract expired after his September 15th decision win over with Roberto Marroquin (22-2, 15KOs).

The two-time Olympic gold medal winner will potentially return on an HBO televised date of December 15th at Marlins Park in Miami, says Arum.

As part of the extension, Rigondeaux will receive a satisfactory increase in his monetary pay per fight.

According to Arum, the new deal calls for a minimum of three and a maxmimum of five fights.

Rigondeaux is such a frustrating fighter. You can tell he is capable of great things. But he plays it too safe and thus is a boring, nonchalant fighter. I have zero interest in seeing him fight.
Golden Boy has the better selection at the 122 division. Donaire is his only money fight, Arce already said he only wants big money fights, maybe TR will cross promote with Rigondeaux.
that donaire fight also puts rigo #1 in…
